Advanced Mountaineering Course

We offer you an advanced mountaineering course. This course is key for those independent mountaineers who successfully carry out difficult winter corridors and ascents and want to advance towards very difficult or extremely difficult activities.

We will teach you advanced self-protection techniques in snow, ice and rock. We will practice mixed climbing and ice climbing, performing a highly technical activity in high winter mountains.

You can choose to take your course;

  • Advanced mountaineering course in the Pyrenees; Catalan Pyrenees, Navarrese Pyrenees and Aragonese Pyrenees.

Objectives of the Advanced Mountaineering Course

  • Develop high-level mountaineering activities safely and autonomously.
  • To be able to identify the appropriate places to place self-protection in high winter mountain adventure terrain.
  • Perfect climbing on icy terrain (ice) and mixed terrain (rock, ice and snow).
  • Agree with the guide those activities depending on the level shown and the prevailing snow-meteorological conditions.

Requirements to participate in the advanced mountaineering course

  • Have the contents of initiation and improvement in mountaineering well established.
  • Have minimal knowledge of self-rescue.
  • Move autonomously in difficult high winter mountain terrain.
  • Good physical shape.
  • Good management of basic knots (clove hitch, dynamic and its blocking, 8, 9, machard).
  • Minimum climbing grade 6a, first in sports.
  • Minimum climbing grade of 4 on first ice.
  • Have personal mountaineering material to carry out technical activities.
  • Facilitate a minimum Alpine curriculum on difficult routes.
  • It is advisable to have previously carried out some mountaineering improvement course or the equivalent. Consult with one of our guides before making any reservation.
  • The company has CR insurance and assistance so it is not necessary to be federated but it is always recommended

Duration of the advanced mountaineering course
2, 3 or 4 days. Days of about 10 hours being possible that these are lengthened or shortened depending on various factors (meteorology, logistics ...), always in this case it will be compensated in another day of the course.

Place of development of the Advanced Mountaineering Course

  • The courses are developed in places of minimum approximation that meet the best conditions.
  • Spanish geography;

As we anticipated previously, the courses are developed in diverse mountain systems of your choice;

  • Pyrenees; Taking as a base the valleys of Bohí Tahul, Ull de Ter, Benasque, Ordesa, Valle de Tena or Belagua, we will recommend one place or another depending on your origin and the snow-meteorological conditions.

  • Descent on routes of various lengths: self-insured abseiling, pendulum rappelling, guided rappelling and abandonment of high winter mountain routes.
  • Self-rescue bases, rappelling in load and stabilization of the injured.

What should you contribute?

  • Personal belongings: appropriate clothing for the moment (light and comfortable) and always more or less warm according to ISO 0, sunglasses, snow goggles, sunscreen. A good meeting jacket (ask about this item).
  • Warm waterproof fat gloves.
  • Medium fat, waterproof warm gloves.
  • Fine gloves type shoft sheel or similar with good grip.
  • Technical mountaineering backpack 45 -60 l.
  • Semi-rigid or rigid boots.
  • 1 liter of water minimum.
  • 1 recommended thermo.
  • Attack meal (dried fruit bars), lunch and some fruit.
  • Personal first-aid kit with some plaster, betadine, some gauze and some anti-inflammatory ... (what each one is used to using before a small scratch).
  • Headlamp in use and spare batteries.
  • Notebook to take a note and a pen.
  • Climbing shoes (we don't intend to use them .. but bring them just in case).
  • Climbing helmet.
  • Climbing harness.
  • Multichain with safety carabiner.
  • Reverse or ATC.
  • Magnesium bag. ( just in case )
  • 5 safety carabiners. 2 of them HMS.
  • 2 ropes 60 meters with DRY (we will put you in contact with other participants to share).
  • 10 express tapes.
  • 2 sewn ribbon rings 60cms.
  • 2 ribbon rings 120cms.
  • 2 pieces of cord 7 mm (5 0 6 mm if it is kevlar or aramid) of 1,5 m.
